Want to know the secret to losing weight and getting in shape? It's easy, eat healthy exercise and just generally take good care of yourself. It's not rocket science and it's not a new concept. Today we are all looking for the 'quick fix'. We've gotten kind of spoiled with science coming to the rescue and making everything easy. The truth is that it doesn't have to be overly difficult, but it will take some time and a little effort on your part.

If you keep doing the same things you've always done, than you won't lose weight. It will take some time to change habits, but it can be done. Just be realistic in your outlook and be willing to give it some time and you'll be where you need to be sooner than you may have thought.

I have a friend who wants to lose about 80 lbs. and she's got the best attitude I've ever seen in someone who is trying to make lifestyle changes. She understands that it will take some time, she's not set herself up for failure by having unrealistic expectations. Too many people decide a few weeks before their class reunion or that holiday party that they want to lose weight. They don't give them self enough time and they don't reach their goal so they give up and never lose the weight they want to lose.

Sure this will be good for you but if you have any underlying health issues you need to make sure that you are doing things the best way considering your needs.

Eating healthy requires you to lower your daily caloric intake. The exact amount you need to take in every day will depend on many variables such as your age, your gender and the amount of activity you get every day. That doesn't necessarily mean exercise, just how much you 'move' on a daily basis.

Once you've figured out what your caloric intake needs to be you should figure out a food plan. For the most part you'll want to keep things as natural as possible. Stay away from highly processed foods.

When it comes to eating breads and cereals remember to stay away from 'white 'foods. White breads, white rice, etc are loaded with unhealthy carbs. There are virtually no health benefits from eating those types of foods. Try instead to eat more high fiber, whole grain breads and brown rice, those offer some nutritious benefits.

Keep your red meat to a minimum. If possible try to eat a few non-meat meals every week. When you do have meat, just make sure to have boneless, skinless chicken, only lean red meat, when you eat red meat. Fish and other types of seafood like shrimp are also very good sources of low fat protein. Eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as drinking plenty of water throughout the day will help keep you in great shape.

So do the two step process for staying in shape: eat healthy - exercise. It works, just go for it.

Exercise can help you lose weight by burning calories, and it can also help relieve stress by releasing feel-good chemicals known as endorphins. Let's look at both of these benefits of exercise in a bit more detail.

The more you weigh, the more physical stress you will put on your body. The question is whether or not that physical stress translates into mental stress. Unfortunately, there is no solid answer to that question yet. However, there is plenty of evidence that losing weight is one of the most important things you can do to improve your health. And you can only lose weight by burning more calories than you take in. One way to accomplish this is through exercise. You don't even have to do that much of it. As few as 30 minutes per day, most days of the week, can start to add up. What you do for exercise isn't all that important. What counts is that you are getting active and burning off some of those extra calories.

Exercise can also reduce your level of stress by releasing endorphins. These are chemical that make you feel good, and are responsible for what's known as "runner's high". Endorphins are somewhat similar to morphine, and will help to relieve stress.

When you make exercise a part of your normal routine, the endorphins will be released more often, and you will get the stress-relieving benefits more often, too. This good feeling isn't just there during the workout, but it can last for several hours after you are finished exercising. There is also something therapeutic about exercise, as it helps you blow of steam. All of those little frustrations you face every day suddenly start to vanish. This beats the alternative of letting all of the frustration build up until you explode in an uncontrollable (and potentially dangerous) fit of rage.

Getting rid of frustration in a healthy manner is so much better than doing other things. Exercise is a natural way to handle stress, so there's no need to take questionable medications or engage in risky behaviors to forget about your troubles. If you have a lot of stress to get rid of, then have a more intensive workout. On the other hand, if you would just like to have a lower level of stress overall, then regular exercise is a smart choice. It can help you lose weight, relieve stress and be healthier, too.

MOTIVATION AND WEIGHT LOSS

You will find listed some great weight loss tips that have helped me during weight loss. We all seen to feel determined and motivated in the first few days of dieting or weight loss. Soon after we become bored and lose that motivation, which makes you feel like you will never ever lose weight.


Steps

Set a reasonable goal and time limit. It's better to lose it when you know exactly what to lose and how you want to lose it. Remember to keep it real! You might not be able to lose 50 pounds in a month but you could lose 20 pounds in two months. Losing weight the fast way is not long term nor is it the healthy way to do so. Once you have a plan in place than start losing!

  1. Think about the diet before beginning. It's often hard to keep a certain diet for more than a week so try mixing diets. Take 3-5 different diet plans and mix the meals up, take your breakfast from one, lunch from the other and so on. Variety is the best plan when wanting to lose weight, that way you don't become bored with the diet.
  2. I would make sure to shift your diet into a more healthy one by leaving a quarter of what you prepared on your plate. Save it for another meal if possible. Write a food journal for a week, seriously write down every little bit of food that you eat, remember to mark the portion size and the time of day to really see what you're eating and when. If you tend to be a mood-eater write down the mood that you had during eating. When you have a complete list you can see what are the main sources of fat and sugar in your diet and cut them back! Eat six times a day but remember that the portions need to be small. This helps you to get rid of the "diet hunger" and also boosts up your metabolism.
  3. Make it more effective by boosting up your metabolism! A cup of green tea during the day adds its own boost. Milk protein and milk products are very good, choose the ones that are low in fat and sugar. Search heat, chili, ginger and cinnamon are the power three of metabolism. Drink 6-8 cups of water everyday if it's hard to remember then try drinking a glass of water every time you eat. The more water you drink will help to flush the toxins out of your body while dieting.
  4. Don't say no to candy, cookies and treats! If you completely say no, you'll probably just get frustrated with the diet and fall for the treats faster. Allow yourself a dessert three times a week and remember again the portion size. I know it's hard to eat a little bit but when you eat the smaller portion try to really concentrate on the yummy good, what does it taste like? How does it feel? This helps you to get the maximum pleasure from the dessert so that you don't end up craving for more.
  5. Exercise! A great solution is, just like with the diet, mix it up! Don't do the same exercise routine twice. Try a site like 5min.com videos to get ideas on exercising. They have gazillions (well, maybe not gazillions) of different exercise routine and tip videos that you can't possibly get bored. Choose to do two of the video exercises per day, the videos are all 5min or a bit more so it doesn't take much time either! I did one hardcore workout video and one slower pace video everyday, e.g. do one aerobic video and one pilates or yoga video, so it's balanced. Try to find a sport that you like. If you find a sport that you like it helps you to keep the weight off after the weight loss. I myself love walking; so I pick the state parks to go a scenic hike in.
  6. Take a break! Take weekends off the diet, diet from Sunday to Thursday but keep Friday and Saturday free. This really helps you not to feel strained when dieting! When you go to a party that you just can't eat healthy in , you can use these spare days to make up for the party, if you have a party on Wednesday, diet on Friday.
  7. Buy tops that you want to look good in, one or two sizes smaller than you are right now. It reminds you of your goal. Try visualizing yourself in that top. This is a small motivation source, if all other motivations sources fail then you still have the top!
  8. Keep in mind that this is something that you do for yourself, for you to be healthy and for you to have a better self-image.
